Buena Vista wheeling and fishing - Aug 28-30 & Labor Day

Postby landshark » Mon Aug 03, 2015 8:28 pm

UPDATE #2: I will be headed to property near Buena Vista the next two weekends for Wheeling, Fishing and more. Those who can make it let me know and we will work on the details. no need to bring firewood or water, plenty at the property. If you can only make it one day thats fine, you don't have to stay just offering up the option for those that might like to.

As mentioned there are plenty of camping spaces available however limited availability in the trailer.

August 28 to 30 and September 4-7 (labor day weekend)

I will be doing another run in September and October as well so if you miss out or want to go wheeling out that way let me know!

About the trip: I have access to some land with a trailer on it that sleeps 5 comfortably and has electricity and water. There is also plenty of space for broncos and camping (35+ acres). There is also plenty of room for truck and trailers if those of you want to pull your rig. The land borders BLM which is next to the Arkansas River - about a 15 min hike from the trailer - so some great fishing/swimming.

My initial thoughts are two runs, one Saturday morning and one Sunday morning leaving sat afternoon evening for fishing, fire and fun. I am also open to running several trails on saturday, have a relaxing time around the fire on sat night and then fish or leisurely make your way back to civilization.

The property is located about 10 miles south of Buena Vista - about 12 miles north of Salida - its secluded and a great place to get away.

This is just to gauge interest and get a head count of those that are interested enough to make solid plans. I would be happy to map out the runs depending on who wants to go and what level you guys want to run - most trails are fairly easy in the area with the exception of Carnage.

Let me know!

Awesome...would love to go! I'm booked until the 22nd of this month, and after that I'm open until the 12th of September. I haven't been camping/wheeling yet this year!

Interested in the first weekend if it's wife /kid friendly. Talking to the wife about it.

I dont see any reason why this wouldn't/couldn't be wife/kid friendly. There is a port a john but no officially prepared bathroom facilities. Space is limited in the trailer so chances are most will have to tent camp.

We might do a spur of the moment type thing, until the Bronco is running again. I'd be a passenger, if possible, otherwise fishing & relaxing are fine. We'd bring the pop-up or maybe just pitch a tent.

If the Bronco gets going, I'd like to start shaking it down, and will definitely come over. I'm afraid this is a long shot.

Bummer about all the flooding, earthquakes, and hurricanes in the Buena Vista area. Looks like the towns okay but all the private property got hit really hard. I think there's a swarm of locusts eating people now. Have fun.
