Video of Skyline Drive Colorado - 200 ft drop on each side

Postby ClayJ » Mon May 04, 2015 12:22 pm

Here's a video I took last week on a ride with my grand daughter.

Skyline Drive runs along the top of a ridge just to the west of Canon City.

To see the video properly, you have to use Google Chrome browser, or an Android device. Use the control in the upper left corner pan around the video. To really freak yourself out, view it on an android and watch the video pan around automatically as you move the android around.

Edit: Hmm, I guess the way the video gets embeded, prevents the spherical video from showing. Click here to see it - https://youtu.be/_n_ZdFopnmU

Here's what you should see when it works right

Does the video not play at all or does it show the base video with the distortions? Did you click on the youtube link?

Do you have the latest youtube app? I have a Nexus 7 tablet and my wife has a samsung. and kids all have various phones. I haven't seen one fail yet but that's sure not statistically significant sample.

I just re-uploaded the video with a soundtrack added and changed the link.

Apple is forbidding google from playing spherical videos on iOS, so no 360 youtube for you (or me). A Mac with google chrome browser works though.

It wouldn't play at all before. Now it plays with the distortions.

Video works fine from a PC via the youtube link. Cool stuff.

I hate phones (smart, dumb, and home), and only keep a smart phone for Torque & Car Gauge.

Got the Spherical on my Galaxy S5. That is pretty awesome! What sort of camera setup do you have to produce those??

I've seen the sign for that turnoff and assumed that it was running along that ridge line, but I've never done it...until now!

Here's a picture of the camera and how it was mounted.

The camera is a Ricoh Theta (about three hundred). There is a second lense on the back side of the camera.

It occurs to me that that camera would mount just fine on the front of a Bronco as it climbed some cool rocks!!

I figured it out. Have to view it directly from YouTube or browser. Doesn't work through tapatalk.

It would be cool from the cage of a Bronco.

Clay, that video is really great !

I thought it was just going to be a 360 view, but being able to "look around" is amazing.

Hope your doing well
