jtsbronc EFI Installation

Postby Moab Mike » Mon Jun 23, 2014 7:45 pm

What: Installing EFI on jtsbronc's Bronco
Where: jtsbronc's house (PM jtsbronc or 76fordbronco for the address)
When: 9:00 AM Saturday June 28th and 9:00 AM Sunday June 29th
Why: Because Justin needs his bronco more reliable!

We are not swapping engines but rather converting his existing engine to EFI. If your curious and want to learn how to do an EFI conversion, come on by!!!

...more reliable? Lol! If my EFI rig wasn't at the tuners I would swing by.

But it sounds really fun!

I promise to fire up the smoker and feed all who show up, will also have cold beverages. Expect pulled pork on Saturday and beef brisket on Sunday. I'm sure I will be working late, so come and go as you see fit.

Big Thanks to Mike for getting this going and thanks in advance to all who are willing to help with this project.

Wish I could make it up. I've been collecting parts for the conversion (still missing the computer but think I have most of the rest) and would love to see one go in before tearing into mine. Can't make it this weekend though. Good luck on the install and please share any little nuggets of wisdom you gain while working through it.

Haha. I see what you did there. Having some alignment issues and Greg is going to let me use his expertise.

Depending on how long it takes us, I'll likely head over for a bit as well. You really got my attention with smoked meats.

What kind of engine are you converting?

OK guys, I have plenty of grub and a poor neglected dog that needs some attention.
Between Mike, Dozer and I, we have some eating to do.

We could use your expertise if your available. I have some questions about the harness we are going to use.

BTW, Justin and his wife lay out a pretty good spread of food. Tomorrow's menu includes smoked brisket!

Just a quick update:

Yesterday (6/28/14) We had jre74 and Moneypit stop by to help with dis-assembly and then begin putting it back together. We pulled the exhaust to weld the O2 bungs in, pulled the old carb and intake and distributor. Justin and his wife Rachel laid out a nice spread of pulled pork sandwiches with all the trimmings.

Today, Hockeydad4-22, JGZ and EFI Guy Stopped by and continued to install the EFI parts. Garry worked his magic on the harness and computer. The O2 bungs were welded in place and the headers re-installed. Fuels lines are starting to come together and we even found the correct cast iron gear locally to put on the distributor. Overall things are coming together! We ate like kings again today with smoked brisket! We are taking next week off for the holiday then getting back on it the following weekend. Come on by if you can.
