Dec 4 2010 - Toys for Tots

That was a fun day.

I'm not going to try naming names because I'll wind up offending someone. I have a horrible memory for names.

Best story of the day, my daughter looks at me and says "this is the worst Bronco rally yet, cause there are to many Jeeps here!"
Had to laugh at that one for a while! anyway had a blast today and getting to see everyone again

BTW Frank Castle, I will pm you about the funds I owe you

If you win it, you have to pay the taxes on it at whatever value the government decides it's worth.

Yup, if you win it, you owe on it. Basically 25% of the value of the raffled item is what you owe the government. Nice, huh?
IRS wrote:Noncash Prizes: For noncash prizes, the winner must pay the organization 25% of the fair market value of the prize minus the amount of the wager.
Example 3: Jason purchased a $1 ticket for a raffle conducted by X, an exempt organization. On October 31, 2004, the drawing was held and Jason won a car worth $10,000 (fair market value). Because the prize exceeds $5,000 and the fair market value of the car is $10,000, the tax on the fair market value of the prize is $2,499.75 [($10,000 minus $1 ticket cost) x 25%)]. Jason must pay $2,499.75 to X to remit to the IRS on his (Jason’s) behalf. X would indicate the fair market value of the prize ($10,000) in box 1 and the amount of the withholding tax paid ($2,499.75) in box 2 on Form W-2G.

And to answer the question that will probably follow... What is the fair market valve of the raffled vehicle? That is determined by the one who is running the raffle, COA4WDC.

The reason that I know all of this is because of the nice Classic Bronco that will be raffled off next year, which was at the T4T event today. I had hopes of participating in next year’s raffle but after finding it would cost me if I won it, yea... not so much. I didn't bring my camera with me but you can follow the build of it on Colorado4x4. The roll cage is amazing. Phil (Viperwolf) and I were able to talk to the guy who fabbed the roll cage, a really nice guy, who incidentally has a Classic Bronco. Yup, he now has a CCB business card. Maybe, he'll check our site out.

Great Pics.

I really enjoyed meeting many of you guys, and both my boys had a ball, even Dan in Rusty the Mustang (I promise, I am going to come up with new lyrics based on Frosty the Snow Man for his car).

We stayed through the rafel, all prizes not claimed in the general drawings were put back into the pot and given away. THere were about 150 folks or so left there to win about 20 prizes. I had 9 ticket (given to me by members who left) and we won exactly noad, nothing zip, zippo. I did snag a T-shirt thrown into the crowd from some jeep company. It is size medium and said something like "head up a creek in a jeep" or some lame-o phrase like that. So I gave it to Tommy (the lone Jeep in our group and my good friend). It will be to tight for him, but he can show off his manly muscles wearing it... (he did give me his ticket too).

Had a great time, and we will absolutly be attending again next year.

Thanks again for setting all this up.

Dang, I was so out of the loop this year. Couldn't have brought my bronco, but would have liked to participated!
