Thank you for the informative links. I agree with your statement and I didn’t intend my reference to 11 rigs to become a cap. I always have a “the more the merrier” mindset.

I can say that the Baja trip taught me that the larger the group size the more important it becomes to make sure everyone has a capable rig and has a certain level of experience and preparedness.

It appears we have 5 Colorado rigs so far

With another 3 - 5 guys that have shown interest.

This trip will give me the motivation to get some things finished on my rig.
- rock sliders
- winch
- recovery points
- long arms
- get compressor and tank for lockers sorted

I was thinking about that.. could be a bit crowded but not sure there is another option unless we are on the trail on tuesday...

I'm was hoping to make this trail run, but since the Super Celebration is just a few weeks after the Rubicon run its just too short of a time line between runs and not sure the wife will enjoy that much seat time? I'M OUT

Not trying to sway your decision, but I see the Super Cel West as a yearly event whereas the Rubicon is significantly more elusive.

I would be open for a mid week run instead of the weekend to avoid crowds.

I'm going to talk to a friend who has run it a bunch and ask about group size and weekend vs weekday traffic.

I just spoke to my friend. He said that a group of 10 is manageable. Larger than 10 he suggested breaking into 2 groups with some gap between. He also suggested trying to avoid big 'event' weekends. I googled a couple of the events he mentioned and they are in late July and early August, so that is good. He said some big events will draw hundreds of trucks for a weekend, and make the trip very difficult. Weekday runs are obviously best, with less traffic.

As the dates approach I'll put the info out to the local club and see if we can get someone with some experience to come with our group. With my troubles getting my shop ready, the likelihood I'll get up there before our trip is slim.

A good first day would be to leave Loon Lake and camp the first night at Buck Island. Then the second night camp at Rubicon Springs. Rubicon Springs is on private land, and the cost to camp is $15/truck.

Edit: Another event to look out for is the Marlin Crawler Roundup, last year it was Sept 11-15. Dates for this year haven't been announced.

Looks like Chris is a maybe now-- and considering this trip originated from him-- are we still planning to do this regardless (Chris-- I hope you can make it happen)?

I think if we wait to determine that we are or aren't doing this in June-- it becomes much more difficult to gain participation and plan appropriately.

I'm still interested in going too. I can move date too if it is better to get more broncos. If it is early enough, the kids get to go too instead of staying with Nana and Pop because of school.

I think he means he will know if he can go once June rolls around.

I think we were looking at not going too early so that we did not run into any Jeep events where it would be miserably crowded.

I believe Chris had a race in Reno the week before so depending on how much earlier we did this- I know that would probably definitely put him out.

So with that said- what are people that originally said they were going thinking on timing? Rob- do you already have a group of buddies committed to the original weekend?

My boys start school on Friday August 7th (strange day for first day of school) and I have a must do event on Saturday August 1st.

Two days drive Denver to Tahoe, 3 days on the Rubicon, and two days back. I understand running the Rubi is best during the week as it is less crowded.

So I could see leaving Denver on Saturday July 25th, start Rubi on Monday morning, head home on Thursday morning.

Or leave Denver on Sunday August 2nd, start Rubi on Tuesday morning, head home on Friday or Saturday (screw that Friday 1st day of school nonsense...……..it's The RUBICON !)

Having said this, I'm still open to the original dates if people want to stick to that plan.

My main thing is I want to go as a Bronco group with people that I know and trust and I want Chad to be able to participate with his Bronco so I am very flexible on scheduling.
