so we need to drill the knuckles without a taper as the OD of the insert isn't tapered ?

this allows you to choose between installing them for over or under.

Re: Conversion to 78 / 79 knuckle and TRO steering

Postby Rox Crusher » Fri Nov 01, 2013 6:44 am

I realize this is in wrong section but it made some sense to continue as part of previous discussion.

Sunday I would like to install 78 / 79 knuckles with new ball joints and camber shims and install TRO steering linkage.

Could use some help, especially if you have experience with dealing with camber issue.

Let me know if you want to join in the fun !

I think I could make it, do you need me to bring any of the following; large drill bits, ball joint press, digital level/angle finder?

I would love to help, not sure i can stay all day but I could do a morning stint or something

What time are you thinking of starting?

Also it would be great to get that Vice mounted, makes Ujoint replacement MUCH easier :)

Kinder, that would be awesome and all of those tools would be very useful.

I think the required drill bit is 7/8" which I will have to pick up if no one else has one.

shouldn't be too bad really as the ball joints in the current knuckles were just installed a year or so ago.

the one thing that sucks about the 78-79 knuckles is the steering arm is just a bit lower than the EB knuckles.

Guys, gonna have to reschedule.

Couldn't get all the parts rounded up today and I would rather get it all done in one shot.
