The Evans clan has a new toy and member!

Postby ol'glory82 » Mon Jul 07, 2014 6:10 pm

Well I can finally participate as an actual CCB member with the purchase of my own bronco over the weekend!! So far I have a shell temporary tranny, frame and a decent cage! It's a year unknown but as far as we can tell it's a 66-69. The goal is a good weekend driver with strong off-road capabilities! I am going full width axels, fuel injected 5.0l, or cobra motor, or lighting 5.4l but for the time being it will likely get a 302. For now it has a 3 speed on the floor but I intend on going 5 speed with it. Other than that it's an open book! The goal is to have it running and driving in the next couple months.

When I pulled my 351 I walked out the door with most of the brackets and a torque converter hanging off the back. I also checked out at 4:45PM. Technically the front dress is not supposed to be included and that TC probably should have cost me more.

Probably just depends on who is working. But I suspect you could get it out the door with all of the brackets, now the alternator and P/S pump I can pretty much guarantee they'd charge you for.

Indeed. Nothing makes me happier that witnessing the birth of a new Bronco addict. And it was only a matter of time before it spread in this family.

Next time you see it, see if you can grab the VIN off the frame. We can at least carbon date that.

[quote="what kinda gearing are we talkin bout rox_crusher?[/quote]

Dan, correct gearing is determined by how you intend to use the rig, factoring in how it is currently configured, or will be configured according to your mast plan.

For me, I use mine as a week end warrior..........driving it at hiway speeds to get to the trail........and then mild / adventure level trails.

So I picked the 4R70W electronically controlled OD transmission for hiway manners and low ratio of the 1st gear. This set up didn't shine with my 3:54 gears and 33" tires so I switched gears to 4:88. To me it is perfect. To somebody else it might not meet their use or they may have smaller / bigger tires to consider.

Fool around with this a bit and you will be able to predict the best match up for your intended use.

Dan paid $350 for a complete 351 and ZF 5 speed both out of a 93 f250 4x4

Engine may be seized but we will hold off judgement until we get it on the stand and start to tear it down. Regardless, the plan is to rebuild both.
