New posts on top?

Postby bones » Tue Jan 11, 2011 10:29 pm

Just looking through some of the for sale stuff and was wondering if it would be possible for the newest posts in a topic to go to the top. For example - in the ebay/cl finds you have to go to page 5 for the new posts. This would really only apply to those types of topics where items are for sale or time sensitive. Again-not sure if its possible but would be helpful.

It is possible as a user control function

use the descending order filter down below
1977 Sport, 351w OBDII EFI motor, 4R70W auto, 4:88 gears, ARB lockers, 3.5" suspension, 33" tires.

Just as Mr Rox says, users can go to the bottom of a thread and select "Descending order" instead of "Ascending" to view the latest post first when a thread is opened. To change the default for all threads to Descending versus Ascending, open the User Control Panel up top. Select Board Preferences and then Edit Display Options. Under Display Post Order Direction select Descending and all threads will now open with the latest post on top.

Additionally, you can change your settings so that you only view posts that have occurred with the last 1 day, week, month, etc up to the last year are the ones you view.

Is this what I would use to change the order of my uploaded pics? Right now, I have to start with the last pic, and finish the post with the first pic. Does that make sense?

If I were to post pics of a process, I have to post them backwards to get them to come out forewords.

I don't think this feature would assist in the upload of pics. One option you might want to try is hyperlinking your pics from a photobucket, or similar, account. This is the technique I typically use and it usually results in a faster upload of the thread as well as instantaneous resizing of the pics. Plus it reduces the overall bandwidth use of the site. I think.

One of the other benefits of the photobucket site, IMO, is all my Bronco pics are backed up in the event my computer crashes.
