Performance Issues

Postby airbur » Wed Jul 20, 2011 5:05 am

I have noticed lately performance lags with this forum. It's occurred on 3 different computers on 2 separate networks in both IE and Firefox so I know it's not my system. It appears that calls to the database are hanging and causing the site to stall. I've had to click URLs multiple times to finally get them to load. On the corporate sites that I support this can be caused by database issues or issues with the Apache/Tomcat layer....although I am not sure what platform this site is running on.

Am I the only one noticing it? Are we getting too big again? Time for another upgrade?

Just a Me, Too post. Mostly from home, some problems from work. Seems to be somewhat time dependent, as it appears to be worse during the day than at 1 or 2AM.

I think the issue has been resolved - our site is screamin' fast today.

I am sure some of the issue goes back to how many clicks it generates, 1.2 Million views, 20 Thousand Posts, 2100 Topics, etc. Our site has some heavy traffic and they likely gave us a little more bandwidth. Very cool that our admin is on top of it and the owners of the site are taking care of it so quickly.

I'm seeing laggy performance again. Anyone else? It's taking up to 30-45 seconds to load up a page sometimes. Seems the same across all the places I access the internet.

Current versions of IE, Firefox (and also beta 11), Safari, Chrome, and a home-grown.

It seems to have gotten better over the last few days....but yesterday it was down completely around 1100am.

I'm using IE at work, Chrome at home and Dolphin on the smartphone, all the most current versions. I've noticed that the site has been faster today as well. The lag seems intermittent. It'll work fine for 3-5 page loads, then hang for 30 seconds or a minute on another.

Same here. I'm using IE8.

Got this error when I clicked the host-tracker link to get a screenshot:

502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server.
There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server

Hope it's helpful.

I've had it work in the recent past, but haven't had time to post up a screenshot. I'll keep on it.
