So on the new Blue Print motor, I am using a quart of oil every 200-250 miles. Motor has 2500 miles on it. Rings should be seated,right? Called Blue Print they said to check plugs and run a compression test. All but one plug is oil fowled . Compression test is 150-155. They said to replace intake gaskets.
Pulled intake and gaskets show signs of oil getting past into runners on both sides. I have never seen this before. I used the Fel-Pro gaskets that came with the motor. Short of putting a sealant around each port anyone have a suggestion on a fix?

Felpro 1250 gaskets are notorious for leaking.

Also check the fitment of your intake if a lot of machining was done to the deck and heads could be a problem. I've run into this a couple of times with 351W and after market intakes.

I've had bad luck with Weiand intakes but I think mine was warped a little. I've always done silicon around the water jackets and when torquing, go through the sequence at least three times. I've seen people do gas resistant RTV around the runners, but that seems cheap. I've also read with aluminum intakes you should re-torque after the engine has warmed and cooled (after break-in for new motors) because the cast iron vs. aluminum is a little wierd. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I would advise finding the absolute correct gaskets (there's a few out there) and but the best they have.

What is the preferred gaskets now days?
Weiand recommends torque to 18 ft pounds so that is what I did, this time I went to what Ford recommends.
So it is back together and miles will tell.

Changed gaskets, still using oil. Did notice the PCV hole on valve cover is over a rocker arm and when running oil splashing onto PCV valve. PCV hose dripping oil. Rocker arms are wider than what was on the old motor. Put a baffle to stop oil splash. Still see oil under carb inside intake. Replaced PCV valve.
Next step is to put on an old Ford aluminum 2 barrel intake and a 500 cfm 2 barrel carb

An update on the oil consumption problem. The 25+ year oil plastic PVC valve was shot. Installed a new all steel valve and oil consumption is almost none. DAMM $3.00 parts.
I took the Cardinal out for a test run two weeks ago for a fuel mileage run. 11.2 MPG I can live with that. I took it down to lakecreek Monday for my first camping trip with the Cardinal. Was gone two nights for a elk hunting scouting trip. Made it all the way home with about 2 gallons left. Still happy with the camper.
