Thanks for keeping an eye out for me, that price is actually good. VA would be tricky, but I do know a guy that hauls equipment from the east coast through Denver.

The box grader at the park needed some repairs, BSD with the onboard welder to the rescue.

Black Smoke Donkey
It had a good run, but the day has come, turbo rebuild time. I’ve always wondered what turbo was on my 4BT, it’s a Holset HX30. Based on what I’ve read from others it’s one of the better turbos for the 4BT, and it’s performed well for me. I’m going to attempt rebuilding it myself, kits aren’t that expensive and the turbo is internally balanced. If I can’t sort it I’ll look for a local shop before sending it out. I think I caught it before any damage was done, fingers crossed.

Do they offer upgraded impellers?

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
Turbo rebuilds are easy peasy. My first was the stock turbo on my 7.3 bus. Installed a wicked wheel 2 at the same time. Nothing to it.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
I would like to find an hx30 for mine. I have an hx35.. i have a wicked wheel in my tool box and stage 1 fuel pin and a stage 2 stashed for later.. lag is pretty bad. Currently get to 26lbs...but my head gasket finally gave up.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
BSD is back on the road, that took way too long. The rebuild kit was only available from one place online, I guess the HX30 isn’t all that common. I’ll break it in easy then hammer it to make sure all is well. Pics tomorrow to prove it runs!

Either way, all I know is I am jealous of you getting out into the mtns! Was home for a few days last week and did some light wheeling with my Dad in his Rubi. It was great to be in paradise!!

Newspaper? How old are you, ha! I’m in the park at the new trail that I’ve been working for forever. Today’s work is a bench install and buck & post/rail fencing.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
Any updates?
How's she running? Do I need to tune up the 2.8 to hang with you?
