Rox's 1977 Ford F150 4x4 Ranger
Picked this jewel up in Cheyenne on Friday. One owner rig purchased in The Dalles, OR but resided in CA most of it's life.
image.jpeg
Original owner fancied himself a tinkerer but pretty sloppy work based on the remnants.
Originally equipped with a 351m which owner replaced with 400m long block. I think he re-used the original heads and exhaust manifolds.
Then he installed a Holley Projection system, which he later removed. It now has an Edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carb.
He also replaced the 3:50 gears with 4:11. Detroit in the rear and Torson-Gleason limited slip up front.
It slobbers from rear main, tranny, and power steering pump.
Body is in really excellent shape although it has had some work on bed.
Going to drive it as is while cleaning up things here and there. Focused on items that will allow it to pass emissions.
We lucked out, Phil has some great info which confirms that it didn't come equipped with CAT or smog pump. I just need to figure out an EGR system.

Really like the truck, makes me want to get one myself. I think pretty soon we will need a ColoradoClassicF-Series site.

I don't recall my 77 F20 having EGR. Originally it had a 360.

Re: Rox's 1977 Ford F150 4x4 Ranger
Phil and I have been cleaning up the left overs out of the engine bay and it's shaping up nicely.
So I went to the DMV to pay the sales tax and get the title processed.
The gal told me she couldn't do it without a weight slip and that I might as well come back when I had it and the emissions completed, which I wasn't planning to attempt just yet.
Well, I decided what the heck and low and behold it passed first try. They apparently didn't care that the PVC system was obviously inoperable, etc.
I think the guy who did the physical inspection was a Ford guy !

Re: Rox's 1977 Ford F150 4x4 Ranger
Very Nice and you have way less work than me. Mine came with a CO title, SMOG cert that had been done less than a year ago so I hope I don't have to have another one.

I had a pretty good idea what kind of rim it would be before I even saw the pic. LOL.
Looks good. Great truck.

Re: Rox's 1977 Ford F150 4x4 Ranger
My folks '78 Bronco had those exact same rims jeff. Unfortunately a barn fire and those mag rims are no more.
Whatta ya doin' with the old rims? That's the style I want on my bronco.

That much burning magnesium had to be spectacular, although I'm guessing you had bigger concerns at the time.

Re: Rox's 1977 Ford F150 4x4 Ranger
I thought I had it bad with the Bronco............really loving the new F150.
Found a set of NOS mirrors for it and the drivers side went on nicely but the hack who installed the original one on the passenger side oversized the holes so I'm having to improvise.
