Ok I've pretty much decided my build. I've messed around with a lot of different numbers. If the current cam is easily tunable I plan to just keep it. Hoping by going to a 58cc head I can get to 9.5:1 comp. Going to slap on some AFR165's. Even with the current cam it still will make good power.

Another detail is oil pump drive shaft. Garry mentioned something like using a 351c or something. Just cause it was a little longer to reach fully into the cam position sensor.

Another question. What about 4r70w torque converter stall speed. I thought I read that the explorer is somewhere around 2250rpm while the truck converter is 1800rpm. Which is better suited for our mild applications?

At a minimum run some 24lb injectors.

@65 PSI they are roughly equal to 23lbs.

It's all above the bar! Dropped it off last week, I need to get the rebalanced Explorer harmonic balancer to him so the internals can be balanced. That's a lot of balancing, ha. We also talked compression and overall drivability. I need to grab his contact info and I'll post it up.

Does anyone have a source for new timing chain cover/water pump bolts for the explorer serp? How about upper intake manifold bolts?

You can buy an aftermarket timing chain cover at any parts store. Finding one at a junk yard that doesn't have a bolt rusted out in it may be a challenge.

Yes. So i cant remember but we dont use any of the studded bolts for anything do we?

Hey that engine looks familiar. You don't need any of the studs. The brackets bolt to the heads. Some of the studs are an odd length that you won't find bolts in.
