First thing I'd do is swap it to the other side. Then pull a tube and cap from a wrecking yard motor. There might be an easy way to make that fit.

I think I have an extra explorer oil filler neck laying around.

The tube on that cover is galvanized steel. It can be welded if one doesn't breathe the toxic fumes while doing so.

You can also grind off the galvanizing, although you'd have to get really creative to get it off the inside.

I would flip the valve covers back to where you had them. Knock the ball out of the PCV valve that is in your valve cover and route a hose from it to the line on your throttle body. You can use that for the fresh air side of the PCV system. I would also rotate the throttle body 90* clockwise for hood clearance.

On the other side I would just cut that filler neck down to 1/4-1/2 inch or so and use a low profile, non vented, push-in oil cap. Something like this:

I finally found a pump that would work. Just for anyone looking to use this bracket and not use the Wild Horses pump ($180) - this came from a 77-79 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup. The mounting studs and location of the return line were the difficult things to match up.

I've now got everything for the serpentine swap fitting. Still need to get hoses, but have that figured out. I will probably add some metal to the fan shroud but will have to wait until it's installed to figure out how much I'll need.

Still need to get the oil cap/valve cover figured out. I'll probably order a couple this week from Summit to see that I can get one that fits.

Quick question with the fuel rail. I was assuming I wouldn't need to modify the fuel rail because it was the same type of intake. However- it looks like I'll have to increase the width with fuel injection hose? It's a lightning lower.

Holy cow that steering pump is hanging off the end there.. are you sure that will clear the steering box hoses and fender once installed? Maybe its the photo making it look extra wide but it looks like the pump is in out there in Kansas...

If the fuel rails came from an explorer you will indeed need to widen them to fit the lightening lower

351s are wider than 302/5.0s so you'll need to lengthen the hose between the rails.

So I am going to need to make my own PS lines. I am wondering if someone can explain to me the parts I will need to purchase. I have seen PS line kits on JEGS for like $200. That seems high to me?

Here are the specs from my pump:

So can someone help me understand what it takes to build the lines. I am assuming the pump end will need a 90 degree fitting with a 5/8-18 thread. I have a stock PS gear-- anyone know what fitting size that is?

Is the other line a low pressure return line? What type of hose does that take?

Thanks-- I couldn't seem to find too much on the interweb on how to make your own-- everything was on how to replace specific types...

You'll need a high pressure hose and a low pressure hose. The low pressure one is easy. You can get the rubber hose from the parts store along with the needed adapter for your power steering box. For the high pressure hose you can take both the pump and box into a place like the Parker store and they can make you one, or you can make your own out of high pressure hose, 2 AN or JIC fittings, and 2 adapters (one for the box and one for the pump). I went the self-build route and it was fairly easy. Cost is a little more.

The latter is overpriced, but easy.

Ok, it's not exactly clicking. I guess cuz I haven't ever used AN fittings. So there are thousands of fittings, adapters, and hose size.

Is there a particular size AN hose is preferred for the PS? What type of fitting is used? There are so many: male to female, AN to NPT.

I think I used 6AN for my stuff. The number preceding the AN is the measurement in 16ths of an inch, i.e. 6AN=6/16=3/8 hose. I used 90 degree fittings. The adapters will be 6AN to whatever size fitting your power steering pump and box use. I took my box, hydroboost and pump down to Emrick and Hill and let them get me set up. They're kind of expensive, but had everything I needed in stock. You could just get the adapters there and save a few bucks, otherwise Google is your friend. If you get the parts I can come over and show you how to put them together. It's easy and we can probably assemble the hose in about 15 minutes. If it helps you're welcome to take a look at how my stuff is set up.

Anyone know a lower radiator hose solution for the Explorer water pump to a stock radiator? I have seen some people mention the lower hose off of a 2002 Super Duty but that doesn't exactly look right and it costs $96. I have also seen a couple people use just a steel flex hose.

I can't recall whose steel crossover tube I nought, nor the hoses on each end.

I think I just bought a hose from parts store that had bends on each end and then cut it in half.

We can look at it on Saturday.

I should really be checking this more often. My pump had no real issues bolting to the Wild Horses bracket. I found several pumps in the GM line that have returns that come up the side of the pump reservoir so that is what I used. In the interest of making it all a little cleaner, I recently grabbed another saginaw pump reservoir and plan to weld in my own AN fittings so I can run PTFE hose for the returns. Over kill? Probably, but I don't care I just want it to be neat and tidy. As for the pump hanging out, Its going to fit just fine, Mine fit without issue.

Which side is plumbed to the gear box and which one is plumbed to the pump on the cooler?

The cooler doesn't care which way the fluid runs through it.

You want it plumbed so that the return line from the gear box goes into it and then into the return line of the pump.

It needs to be inline on the low pressure side. They won't handle the 1200psi or whatever. But yes, other than that you can hook it up however.
