Post 1977 Bronco Sport
Howdy guys,

I'm considering selling my Bronco in order to raise cash for a new house. I have a ballpark for what I think it is worth but want to get some input on what other Bronco fanatics think. Not looking to take a bath or desperate to liquidate but would sell if the price is right. I can build another after getting into new house.

1977 Bronco with sport package and special decor paint scheme.

NEW / RECENT:
- Explorer 5.0 with 100k +/- miles. Inspected before installation and it is in very nice condition and runs great
- Ron Francis / RJM harness
- BC Bronco shorty headers
- all new 2 into 1 exhuast with CAT and muffler
- BC Broncos EFI fuel tank with Aero fuel pump and all new lines
- Viperbuilt 4R70W (less than 7,000 miles)
- Buaman Optishift controller
- Viperbuilt Hybrid D20 (J-shift with T-shift gears) (less than 2,000 miles)
- WH twin sticks
- New drivelines, front and rear
- D44 with 3.5 gears was recently rebuilt including new diff bearings, wheel bearings, calipers, etc (less than 15,000 miles). Just replaced ball joints and and rotors last week
- Ruff Stuff TRO just installed
- Big bearing 9" with 3.5 limited slip, rebuilt brakes (haven't touched diff but no issues)
- Astrovan hydroboost brakes
- all new brake lines and emergency brake cables
- WH 3.5" suspension (less than 15,000 miles)
- 15"x8.5" slots including spare
- Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs with 65% tread remaining (except one which wore prematurely)

Spring of 2012 we;
- took the body off
- restored the chassis before installing motor and tranny. Frame is in great shape, no wrecks or rust. Had rolling chassis sandblasted and then painted it with black Chassis Saver.
- sandblasted the engine bay and patched over the small rust spots on the inner fenders and then painted it to match body color.

Spring of 2013 we;
- replaced the floor pans and bed with panels from WH.
- insulated the floor front to rear and installed black carpet
- replaced original top with one that is in pristine condition. It has new tinted sliders, all new seals, and good chrome trim on windows and drip rail.

This year I have been working to make it more comfortable for kids and wife.
- Replaced heater core and resealed heater box
- new stereo system with bluetooth connectivity for music, hands free phone, amp, and speakers. Power antenna.
- JGZ fiberglass door panels with 5.5" speakers
- insulated the roof of the hardtop (which really cut down on road noise)
- installed new windshield glass

The ol girl drives safely down the freeway at 70 without any effort. No steering wander or bumpsteer and it stops quick and straight.

What else should you know ?
Body is in good shape and looks great from 15 feet. PO painted it once before (mid 90s?) and it still looks ok.
Little bit of rust starting at quarter seam and rockers.
Tailgate has some rust but is straight.
Couple little dings here and there.
Needs felt seals for door glass.
Rear axle seals both leak.

If I keep it the next project would be to re-gear it to better utilize the overdrive. Then I would have the body restored and high end paint job so that I will really pucker when going camping and wheeling.

Oh yeah, we need pics..............here is one to get started. I will add more later but I gotta get the Christmas lights up before I get shot.

So, what do you think is a fair price ?

If I were buying your truck, I would expect to pay no less than 15k. The drivetrain stuff you've done probably push it closer to 20k, but potential belt line rust keeps it from breaking that threshold for me.

As always, you definitely need to take advantage of rust belt markets for potential places to sell. I would also wait until income tax refund season to maximize your potential buyer pool.

Dude, that sucks. Your rig was the second EB I ever drove and THE reason I pulled the trigger on mine. There are too many hours and good trips in that beauty to let er go for some extra cash. I can't imagine a wheeling trip w/o it.

However... I'm sure you'll be sittin in another one soon enough. Good luck on that decision, it's a tough one.

PS-can I have those chrome tow hooks....

Post Re: 1977 Bronco Sport
I don't think we've met so why do you want my two cents?! Here's my opinion anyway... I have an old 1967, they are pretty rough overall. You have a 1977, thought by many to be the finest of all the years, the one that really brought it all together. I've never been in one, but yours sure seems nice. With the way they are increasing in value, I'm not sure now is a good time to sell it. I believe they are going to increase at a greater rate than any home loan rate you could get so it would represent a financial loss to you. So...do not sell unless you really have too, by the time you get back into one the price will be up, so there is even more of a loss by the time you get it back as nice as yours is now. Good luck in your decision. Peter

Is there something you guys aren't telling me? Does every Bronco I put a lot of work into need to get sold off for some reason?

Just think of all the money you can save up by living in the trailer for a year or so. Sure, winter would be tough but you have that really neat propane heater.

The pics on cb.com reminded me how much work you have done to this truck. Wish I was ready to buy a Bronco and I would be all over it.
