Vehicle Registration costs
Can anyone give me a ballpark idea of the costs to register my 68 Bronco and 2013 Escape in Mesa County? We will be moving to Junction in a couple of months. I did Google searches but only found the parameters that determine the fees, not the fees themselves. Thanks, Bill

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
Don't know about Mesa County, here in Douglas County I registered Bubba Smurf with collectors plates (good for 5 yrs) and it cost me a hair under $300.

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
I paid about 300 for the 5 year plates on my bronco as well. No idea about the escape.

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
Thanks for the replies. Not too much worse than Alaska. My registration is $170 for 2 years for my Bronco.

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
The "Historic" tags are good for 5 years and avoid smog checks on some vehicles, where smog checks are required. I don't know if GJ has smog check. Your 68 is probably exempt anyways. I don't know the smog laws because I don't have checks in Gunnison. My regular 1 year plates are about $65.
Your Escape will be a couple hundred bucks or more, if I were to guess.

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
Newer vehicles are based on purchase price with the 1st year being the worst, I know some cars ($40k+) are near $1k to register the 1st time.

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
depending on the county new cars are based on a % of the price you purchased.. its going to be $1K+ or more for that escape.
As others have mentioned your 68 will require no smog check and you can get 5 year plates.. about $300

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
At least in Denver when I bought my truck the plates were based off the taxable value of the truck rather than the purchase price. My truck was about 26k but the taxable value was just shy of 23k. Plates the first year were about $700. On the bronco I made the mistake of telling them what I actually paid for it rather than having the guy I bought it from write me a bill of sale for like $1000. I paid more than $300 for my 5-year plates :(

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
The escape will hurt especially since it has 2 years new plates for Alaska. Don't think I can get away for long running Alaskan plates on it. I look forward to meeting up with club members once I get to Junction and get settled in. My 68 will love going topless for most of the year.

Re: Vehicle Registration costs
Are you by chance military? You can get away with it longer if you are.

Not military, just an old retired fart.
