80 grit works good as an all around knock down to bare metal other than that it the paint is in okay condition you just need to knock the "gloss" off it, if theres any left from factory paint. Then you'll step up to higher grit like 320 before paint. Personally I would leave that up to whom ever is going to shoot the paint for you. That all falls under the finish work before squirting it.
