Post Re: Tires and gear ratio
Depends on what you mean by too tall.
Are you concerned about RPMs during highway driving?
Power to the rear wheels during wheeling?

What are your future plans? I see you are thinking about a 351W swap.

Post Re: Tires and gear ratio
Are you running a 3spd or C4?
In either case, you'll be look at around 2300 RPM at 65 MPH, 2500 @ 70.

If fuel economy is going to be a big concern or you are planning lots of highway driving, you might consider swapping over to a ZF 5 speed. The ZF will get you 1900 RPM at 70MPH with the 3.50s and 2200 RPM at 70 MPH with 4.11s.

All of these numbers are based on your 33's. Going up in tire size will lower your RPMs, but now you need more juice to push that rubber, plus suspension mods to clear everything.

Kind of a dual edged sword all the way around.

Plenty of folks run 33's w/3.50 gears, it seems to be max tire size for that gear, it can be wheeled in 4 low but you'll likely want to upgrade to 4.10's in the future if you want to off-road a bunch.

I'm currently running 33x10.50 with 3.50 gears...302 and C-4 and avg 15mpg with plenty of power on the 21 mile hwy trip to and from work daily. Have run this combo for 5 years and 30k miles...no problems here.

Post Re: Tires and gear ratio
I've got the NP435 4 speed transmission and am running 3.50 gears and 35's. I could go up to 37's if I wanted to because the first gear in my tranny is a granny 6.69:1 ratio. It crawls great. And with the large tires, my 4th gear is actually now an overdrive. I run 2500 rpm at 70mph.

But, with my 3 speed before the swap I ran 33's and had to play the clutch a little. With a 351 you have enough torque to pull it off.

Post Re: Tires and gear ratio
I ran 2.93's with 36s for a while in my last Bronco when my rear locker blew up. It would cruise the highway great with the c4 trans! I had a heavily built 351w for it so I could still roast a 36 tire from a stand still with that motor. I think 3.50s with 33s would be fine....especially when you go the 351. My currect Bronco was running 36s on 4.10s with a weak motor and it was good on the highway. Now I am running 5.13s with the 36s and it is pretty low for the highway but I tow it to the far trails so highway ability is not what I was really after!

Look like nice tires and a 50K warranty is awesome. I think that is a nice all around tire. Excited to hear your review.
