Post Controlling exhaust temps
With my new suspension, my exhaust runs somewhat close to one of the JJ's. Apparently when that joint gets warm it starts to squeak. At least that what it seemed. I thought it was dust at first, but after the bronco had cooled, it didn't squeak again until I had been running a while.

So what should I do? Wrap it or build a shield? Are there other options?

Summit a good source for header wrap? Are there better brands than others?

Locally is better in this case. Will call down there and see what they got.

Autozone had header wrap for $50! Yikes! I only need to wrap a foot or so of pipe. Anyone have any laying around? I'd buy 6ft from ya. Might look into making a shield instead??

I have some around here that was on my system where it went past the tranny pan. Now with a proper cooler I have ruled out the exhaust soak causing higher tranny temps.

Its used and not in perfect shape, but I have some!

Ps- I would just build a sheild.

I really need to crawl under there and look at what I can do for a shield.

McMaster-Carr at mcmaster.com has almost endless options for head shields / insulating tape / insulating sheets....soo many that I can find the 1-1/2" wide non-adhesive tape that I used on their website. But, it worked well about 1" away from the header tubes protecting a wiring harness. Much cheaper than Summit / Jegs / Auto-parts stores.

I love mcmaster! They have everything, but didn't realize they had header tape! Thanks for the heads-up!
