I purchased an Aviation style Fuel Filler for my Bronco. Really a cool look and got the idea from the Raffle Bronco. I cut the new hole in my Rear Quarter Panel, now wondering how to attach the new filler to the existing filler neck. I am wondering if I can weld the Chrome fuel filler to the metal fuel neck leading to the tank.

Any ideas? Does chrome take a weld? Other idea is just using a 1" piece of hose with clamps but welding would be perminant.

BTW - the fuel filler neck has been thoroughly cleaned and not been by fuel for 6 Months so little chance of loosing my eyebrows ;).

Replying with nothing other than to say I saw something somewhere on how to do that,, the where.. is the problem.. Let me see if I can find it.

That is great information. They went the tubing route and I like that option - especially if anything ever needs to be removed, worked on, upgraded, etc. down the road. Much harder to work on a welded piece than a simple hose clamp.

Just an adder, chrome is simply a coating so if it's covering mild steel, you can weld to it. Might need a little grinding. Just FYI.

That is good to know JD - I guess Chrome is like Powder Coating and just needs to be removed before welding. I am going the hose route on the filler install tho in case I have any issues later or add a Body Lift. Thanks guys.
