Post China Wall 3-6-11
First off let me say what a great time the fam and I had.
Thanks to Kirk,Justin,MJ and Phil for your patience with my charging issues.
BIG thanks Kirk for letting me borrow your battery and shadow you home with no lights.

FYI 9 volts is still enough to keep a Bronco running if you keep the heater off,no dash lights, wipers only when absolutely needed and running parking lights. long story for later.

a few quick pics, more later
again great time guys and not a bad shakedown run for mine.

{Edit: his Jeep is for real,super nice, I dont want to make it sound like I am knocking it, kind of an inside Joke to the not so trail rated Jeep liberty who was aiming to go up "Liberty Hill"}

What a great trip. It was a long haul but well worth it. Seems like most everyone got a bump or scrape but nothing serious. My rear tank lost a couple ounces of capacity. We got snow most of the way home which probably didn't help Brian with his bad battery cable.

Like that last shot of me Phil!
tires spinning,dirt flying.
rear locker woulda been really helpfull there.

the ride home was less than desirable.
as the voltage continued to drop I was just praying Viper(Phil) didn't run off the road.
Cause I was just following your taillights.
I had to completely dim the dash, unplugged the CB(wouldntwork without proper volts anyhow)
and was carefully regulating the wipers to clear the snow/ice.
headlights were too dim to be usefull.
as the wipers slowed with the lower voltage I ended up having to turn off the blower for the defrost/heater to allow the wiper to have some effectiveness.
when Kirk and I turned off at c470, I turned the headlights off and shadowed him all the way into parker where we turned the lights back on, and "limped" home pulling in the garage with a whopping 9 volts registered on my volt gauge.

It was an exhausting drive home for sure but makes for a good story.

Culprit, seemed to be my new 3G not charging as we had proper voltage at all the proper places but no output. however a bad cable(corrosion and a less than desirable crimp connection) seems to be the issue. as we got it working for a bit, then it went out again.
Todays shopping list will have new cables and some of those super cool QD battery terminals like Kirk is running.

All in all a great time, albeit a little far, but still fun.
thinking a set of flares might be in my future though.......

I have to come clean and tell you all that last photo of my Bronco was a POSER shot, I could not get up that with my motor stallind out as soon as I got the nose up in the air, Thanks EDELBROCK.
Anyway, Brian im glad you made it all the way home under power.
Thanks for the great day guys, I'll be looking forward to the next one.

Man, I wish I had paid attention to your trail run thread, I would have come up there for that. China Wall is only about an hour from me and I have some old pictures of me on those rocks running around somewhere. It's a fun trail to run.

Great time, sorry Viper for the scrape, completely my fault for not moving that rock. I finally got some trail rash on my truck from that tree and just about poked a hole in my top. Nothing major just some bent trim and a couple of dings, just adds character. Note to self - when trying to put the Bronco up on a VERY large unstable rock leave a little more room between myself and the tree. I'm glad my friend MJ suggested the trail, even though most the trail was easy I sure found plenty of trouble to get into. I believe I see a little air under my front tire in Viper's pic.

Brian's truck was on it's shakedown run, so problems were to be expected. I'm just glad we all made it home before the weather really got bad, I know I spent a few minutes craning my neck to see out of the passenger side section of the front window trying to find the damn white lines on the road when the ice built up on my wipers.

Yep, Sunday morning I just could not force myself to drag my butt up for this trip, looks like it was a lot of fun. The bumper build just took my weekend out of me. I had to promise Drew that we would go on the next 2 wheeling trips just to get the look of dissapointment off his face.

Good report! I am glad to see that trail hasn't been graded like I had heard. It's been a long time since I have done that trail. I gotta hit one with the club soon!

Yeah, and had a fairly tight squeeze at the top. That's about as rough as I remember it. So they filled in the holes between the rocks again?? Geesh
