Carter P4070 low pressure pump

Airtex E2000 high pressure pump (cross reference as late 80's truck/Bronco EFI pump)

LP pump has been in only 1 year. I swapped it due to Viperwolf's warning about the LP pump I was running. HP pump has been in 3 years.

I like simplicity. I believe on Shawn Gregg's we just put an e2000 pump close to the tank (low as you can get it). I don't think he has had any problems with it. That's what I would try first. If you have problems then you can invest in a more complicated system.

Post Re: Fuel Pump
I originally installed a frame mounted fuel pump on my EFI install but it wouldn't pull enough fuel pressure to run my engine. I then went to an internal tank fuel pump, it has been running flawlessly ever since. I'm not sure the difference but my experience is but the internal pump has performed better than I expected.

An in tank pump would be my preference if I had the tank for it. not ready to part with the $$ just yet.

I'm running a Holley Red LP at the tank, and the factory external HP pump from the donor truck (1994 F-250). The red pump makes a bit of noise and it may fail at some point, but it's been that way for 6 years.

No accumulator on mine.

I modified fuel tank . Cut 3 inch off top and welded back together also cut hole in top and made baffles in tank for pump . All is well so far , bottom line I have extra inline pump that came with msd injection kit if you are still lookin for pump . Cheers

Old thread sorry, but I know my Holley LP pressure is likely done. So is this Carter pump still the go to? It's half the price the Holley is, and only slightly larger.

Post Re: Fuel Pump
Good news Eck!

John - I have the factory HP fuel pump located inside the engine bay. It's less work for me to replace LP pump than to move the HP pump. The downside to that is if the LP pump fails again, the engine cuts out if I try to add any throttle, but at least it still runs... Perhaps I should spend $30+/- and rebuild the Holley as a spare...
