Auto Trans Help/advice
Howdy from the fabulous PNW. I hope all is going great - and you all should know that I miss this club more than just about anything else in Colorado. I do check in often, though I do not post much. I follow along on FB so it makes it easier to stay in touch.
Anyway - I have been meeting some of the EB guys up here and one has a really nice bronco that I had the pleasure of riding shotgun in 2 weekends ago in the dunes and on the beach (which was really super cool, highly recommend it if you ever get the chance). His is the gray one wiht the door open in the pic below. His trans started acting up during the day, it was a 4R70W, he has a spare 4R75W (both pulled from explorers) so he decided he would just swap them so as not to lose any precious play time.
he dropped the pan on the second trans (4R75W) and found this plug/seal/thingamajoby. He said the exploder ran, drove and shifted fine before he pulled the engine and trans.
Anyone have any idea what it is, what it does, where it goes and does he need to reinstall it?
Thanks in advance - if you ever find yourselves up here in OR - be sure to look me up. When I am back in CO - I will try to make a breakfast or something.
Greg

It's just the plug Ford used to seal the trans up before it was installed with the dipstick tube. They just pushed them in with the tube.
All V8 explorers had a 4R70W.

Great to hear from you Greg! Glad things are going well for you and you are out playing in the sand!
There is a chance we could end up in Seattle. If we do, I'll hit you up!
