When the guy in that video says the rust is causing problems, what kind of problems is he talking about?

Rust never stops. Bottom line, if you have it, it will continue to spread. Those seams look like they have a good amount. If you look at my build thread (Project Downward Spiral), you can see what I found when I removed my lower quarters and I had less bubbling than what I see in yours.

That said, if you aren't in a place to tackle it, don't start. Drive it until your ready. It will be more work than you plan.

Well, life got in the way, a lot. I travel for work, plus kids (I coach youth soccer too). Technically, 90% of that was done in 2 years but that was me going very slow cause I had/have zero clue at what I'm doing.

Then, I got to the point where I needed to spray epoxy primer and winter came so the project sat (epoxy needs metal temps of 65 degrees or warmer). Then last summer, work had me on the road 10 weeks straight so I got epoxy layed down but then winter came back before I could prime/paint. So, here I am at 4.5 years. I really just need to rebuild the power steering box and I could drive it. It is epoxied and my goal is to primer it and paint it in June this year. We'll see if it all works out.

If you have time, this can be done much faster. Look at Strike2, he did 1000% more in 25% of the time of my project. Also, if you aren't trying to paint it (i.e. you'll farm that out), you can get that done during the winter from a shop. I'm doing it all in my garage.
