Post 6 Cylinder Air Cleaner Options
Is anyone out there that has a 6 cylinder in their Bronco running an aftermarket air cleaner? I have the original oil bath for mine, but it needs some serious help so I'm looking for just a regular paper filter air cleaner to stick on there for now. I am concerned about clearance under the hood. I have an adapter plate so I can use any 5 1/8" filter from a 2V/4V carb. Anyone running a similar setup have recommendations? Would a low-profile V8 air cleaner fit (Like this: https://www.tomsbroncoparts.com/product ... ome-v8-new)? Thanks!

Not sure what it's off of, but many I6 Broncos seem to be running this Ford filter set up. Tell Kirk to get his oil bath filter fixed up and let you use this one.

So MAYBE it's a 66 Bronco air filter housing. I've read some conflicting info on whether or not 66's came with a paper filter option. Just doing a quick search I found this reproduction sticker:

Hmm that's interesting. I've seen those around on Falcons and Mustangs I think. Maybe I can snag one off ebay. I got this paper filter setup (https://www.vintageinlines.com/product- ... ir-cleaner) and I think it's shorter than that Ford setup. It measures 2 1/4 inches tall roughly but it doesn't seem like it's going to clear. Maybe I'm wrong.

Did a little more looking and it might have come on Econolines too (which makes sense).

The Falcon & Mustang filters I saw weren't identical, but quite similar. Kirk could probably measure his and give you an idea of how tall it sits off the top of the carb. Or somehow use some modeling clay to figure how much clearance you have.

I think that's a good call. I'll get a hold of Kirk and see if he can take a quick measurement. Modeling clay is also a great idea. Thanks Gunni!

Geez, my ears are burning, ha. That’s what I get for spending the day in the back country working on buck & rail fencing.

I believe the commonly used air cleaner is off a Falcon. Gunni is right, I need to get the one he gave me cleaned up and working, I’ll give you my paper element housing.

Give me a text or ring and we can meet up.
