I'm thinking of converting to a hydraulic clutch to free up some room on the drivers side for exhaust routing. I've also got dreams of someday dropping in a 5 speed trans. Are there any other benefits and what does it take to make it happen? I'm running a NP435. |

I wonder if a BB setup from a zf5 could be easily adapted to work? |

Yeah, if at all possible, go with an external slave. No one wants to pull the tranny to swap out the slave. |

This is off of a Bronco Facebook post, reported here without verification. If true this would be an easy way for older standard transmissions that have detachable bell housings to upgrade to a hydraulic setup. Try it out Justin and let us know if it works. You can source an E4TA small block bell housing from an 84 to 86 F series or Bronco they are set up for an external hydraulic slave cylinder and has the standard ford transmission bolt pattern. |

Justin the external clutch from a big block (460) should work. You will have to figure out (build) a bracket but shouldn't be too tough. Or go the bellhousing route ;) It's nice to get rid of that crap on the frame. |

Fabbing a bracket might work. If the trans/bellhousing is coming off, a ZF5 is going on. |
