Post Never shopping at overstock again!!
So we bought my brother-in-law a nice Jacket for christmas. It was a little too big so we found one in his size and got it coming on christmas day assuming we would just return the one that was too big. Got all the information and return labels. Sent the jacket back to them asap. Well 4 days after shipping them the jacket they contacted via email and said we could only get a partial refund due to the fact the jacket was not re-stockable! It was $140 and they refunded $40! The reason it was not re-stockable was due to hair on the jacket. There were 2 pieces of hair on it, both blond. NO ONE ANYWHERE NEAR THE JACKET WHILE IN OUR POSSESSION HAS BLOND HAIR!! We asked for pictures to prove it. They sent 2 very fuzzy pictures of the BLOND HAIR and they closed the incident. The jacket got to us December 17th, we opened the box, looked at the jacket, put it back in the box and wrapped it for christmas. Christmas day arrived and my brother-in-law opens the box, tries it on, says its too big and puts it back in the box. 5 days later it is still in the box and on its way to the post office to go back to overstock. We re-opened the incident since it was not even close to satisfactory to us. We asked them to send to jacket back to us so we can sell it ourselves since it is still brand new with tags installed. They responded saying they threw the jacket away and cannot send it back to us or refund any more $$$.

THIS IS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE IN MY OPINION!! COMPLETELY UN-RESPONSIVE TO ALL OUR CONCERNS AND UN-WILLING TO WORK WITH US AT ALL! I am sorry for my long rant here but I plan to let everyone know about my horrible experience with them in the hopes no one else gets screwed.

Sorry to hear about the pain in the ass with Overstock. Restocking fees have always seemed like a sham to me. Charging 50% of the original cost just to throw it back in the box, or maybe wrap it in plastic first, is plain criminal.

That being said, if I'm buying something for someone else, gift or otherwise, I always try and figure out the return policy prior to placing my order. If it is convoluted or seems like it will be a pain in the ass if something goes wrong, I'll find somewhere else to buy it.

Lately shipping costs have been pissing me off more than returns. I just priced a few Bronco parts the other day and received a shipping quote of $12-13 for $10 worth of parts. banghead

call credit card company and have charges reversed and see if you get any response then , also ask for in writing that items are thrown away if something is wrong.

X2 on calling credit card company and filing for money back. They have always fixed my problems with bad retailers. I was told anything under 200 dollars they just give you the money back because it cost them more money than that to investigate the issue. Maybe just my instance but worth a try.

I'm betting the jacket fit one of the customer service reps...

Sorry to hear about your troubles and we all appreciate the heads-up!

Contact your CC company and file a complaint. Then contact the BBB in the companies area and file a complaint. That will get you answers. If not, at least your CC company should stand behind you.
