If you happen to be considering booking a sporting trip, say an elk hunt, or flyfshing in Alaska for king salmon, this year you will find some outstanding deals out there. I have been offered trips at the rate of 3 for 1. 3 guys for what we paid for 1 guy, 2 years ago. Just visit with as many of the lodges, gueds and booking agents as you are able to before comiting to any single one. You will be blessed with a wonderful selection of top notch opurtunities for a trip of the lifetime. I know that I am looking at a trip to AK for another week of chasing Salmon this summer. |

Everyone I talked to, from Anchorage to Seward, this last year said it was a horrible salmon run. Everything from kings to sockeye was coming in at lower than expected numbers. Let me know when you might be planning a trip this summer. The wife and I might be heading up too. Just don't know yet. |

Me and a couple friends took a road trip to Alaska in August. We spent a week on the Kenai River. While we were there the Silvers and Pinks were running. They had had a great year for the Reds earlier in the year so we were eating reds (from earlier) on the grill on the shore literally everyday. We caught more pinks than you could imagine, which most people don't eat, we did not keep pinks. We did a drift trip one day and all limited out on silvers. This was my first time there, so I do not know what a good run is......but it was an amazing time. What an amazing place to go if you get an opportunity. |
