So I have a 70' Bronco that I bought a few years back when I was living in New Mexico the last place it was registered was in Colorado. I bougfht it without a title and didn't get a chance to get a title when I lived in New Mexico and now I'm up in the Black Hills so it's even more complicated I've contacted South dakota's DMV and they told me thay can't do anything for me since it's never been titled in South Dakota and told me I need to try to get a title from Colorado's DMV. So the questions is anybody know hw to go about getting a replacement title from the Colorado DMV??? I have a email addy and a phone # already just thought I'd ask here for any helpful hints. Planning on selling it as a project rig in the next month or two and just want to get the title thing cleared up. |

I had to get a "Rebuilder Title" for my 39 Plymouth recently. A "Rebuilder Title" is a real title, issued to a car in non-running order. It can be transfered, but not regiserted and I cannot get plates until it is running & road worthy & gets inspected again by a State Trooper. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5223&p=48176&hilit=rebuilder#p48176 |

Did they assign a new VIN or utilize an existing VIN found on the body or frame? |

They used the VIN from my car. If the VIN tag was missing, or the car was pieced together from multiple vehicles they would have assigned it a new VIN. |

I wanted to purchase an old Thunderbird about a year or so ago, and the seller had no title. I went to the DMV and asked if it was possible, and what I had to do to get one. She handed me a packet on what needed to be done, and how to do it. It takes a few months, but it is possible, even if it has never been titled in Colorado. Basically, they will check with South Dakota to see if there is a lean or something. Shouldn't be too tough with an old truck. Just go to the DMV and ask for that packet. Hope that helps. |

I was doing a little digging through my paperwork. Here is a link to the Colorado Dept of Revenue & its options to title vehicles. http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/Re ... 8251958786 You might already have it, but maybe it will help someone else. |
