So in late November the new owner at work announced that as of January 1st, the company was no longer providing company vehicles to estimators and project managers, we would be given the opportunity to purchase our current company truck at 90% of wholesale which I of course took full advantage of. In the meantime, his 19 yr old son managed to wreck his very clean 1999 ford ranger. The cost to have it repaired is nearly the same as the value of said truck. So it sat in the parking lot here at work for weeks until recently some hooligans threw a broken chunk of parking block through the drivers window so they could steal the stereo. Boss then comes into my office and asks me if I would be interested in the truck - 2 for one deal. I go do some minor looking and decide I can buy most of the parts at the JY for less than $400 so I say sure. 4.0L OHC V-6 Auto trans all the factory bells and whistles needs: Right steering knuckle, bumper, front passenger fender, tire rod, trans cooler, grill, drivers side glass, stereo... So here it is. Plans for this build? Get it on the road, register and insure it and keep if for the boys to drive when they need it, one of their rigs breaks down etc. No big build. Just a commuter is all. For now Someday..... Prerunner??? |

Head over to 4btswaps, Rangers are a prime platform for the swap. |

I'm thinking 351w and long travel suspension. Maybe a tube bed? |

Nice score for sure! I'm pretty sure the Explorer 5.0 swap only requires a couple of pins to be moved at the bulkhead connector. Otherwise it's plug and play with the right bolt-ons. |

Diesel or v8 power in a ranger sounds like a match made in heaven! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gastk7-eJY (6bt) Greg - it's easy spending your money! |

Yeah Some friends you all are. I wonder how well you guys did in school. Obviously reading and comprehension was not ur strongest subjects. Remember this is to be the extra vehicle in the fleet to use when the bronco or big cummins is not practical Now what happens to it later in life remains to be seen but I seriously doubt t will include "rolling coal". I do think it would be fun to have a rig to zoom up and down some of the old mining roads on (4x4 prerunner style) but that remains to be seen. |

Just in case you all thought I had been staying warm on my couch rather than the mild artic that is my garage, I have been working on the ranger, have the drive train done, now looking for fender, grill, bumper, passenger headlight assembly and of course that driver side window. I think a PNP trip this weekend is in order |
