Is there a circle of hell for people who wire badly?
I'm digging into the wiring on my truck this evening, trying to figure out why the blinkers, tail lights, wipers and fan don't work. It appears that the wiring changes on my rig were done by a gently lobotomized chimpanzee. I'm no whiz a wiring, but this is stupid. The stock ignition switch was bypassed in favor of a toggle and button (unknown as to why). The wire running from the starter solenoid to the toggle is wrapped around the steering column about eleventeen times. Why? Is cutting the wire the right length really that big a chore? I pulled out a 10ft wire that wasn't connected to anything, and another wire that is connected to the negative side of the battery but to nothing else that has a random plug on it. I've found a wiring diagram online (which revealed that the reason my gauges don't work is that the black/green wire is woefully underconnected), so hopefully I'll be able to clean up the mess. Mostly I'm just bitching, but is there anyone out there with good wiring expertise that I can PM or call if I get stuck?

Re: Is there a circle of hell for people who wire badly?
Thanks! I'd found the diagram, but having it in .pdf made it printable. I may go to Kinko's today to see if they can print me a full size laminated one. I didn't have the wiring list and that should come in really handy. I may just pick up a Centech harness and rewire the truck, as that should solve most of my problems and I'll know it is done right. I just got off the phone with 4wheel parts and they can get them. Apparently Ernie @ the Westminster store is an EB guy and knew my truck from the Craigslist ad. Seemed like a nice guy. Anyone have any experience dealing with them?

He wasn't sure because they don't have it in their computer system. He is able to get them and asked that I give them a shout Monday. I also talked to Bronco Hut and they've got the Centechs for about $440 (I don't remember exactly, but that is in the ballpark). They've also got good condition original harnesses for about $250.

Justin - You might consider a trip out to Riverside Truck Parts. They had 6 or so EB's in the south lot. May be worth a look.

Re: Is there a circle of hell for people who wire badly?
Just East out of Evans off 37th street just before the Platte. It is called Riverside truck parts. They have a lot on the south side that had several old broncos. Various conditions, but a few were in good shape with a bunch of parts. They are a bit rough on prices at times, but not always. I thought if justin were to ask how much for the dash wiring.....they may not be too bad. Never know, and they may all be gone too.
