I'm not the expert but as I understand it the external cooler will relieve the load put on the radiator from the transmission and allows more cooling for the engine. Ironically, i just ordered an external cooler not an hour ago. |

I run an internal and an external transmission cooler. My external cooler is what they call a "stacked plate" style and it is mounted in front of the radiator. So far neither my transmission or my motor runs too hot, even on the hottest summer days. When I install A/C I believe I will replace my external cooler with the style 76fordbronco posted below. This will allow me to use the space in front of the radiator for the A/C condenser. |
