Looking to put a small compact CB radio in the 69.. I have one in the 94 but looking something a bit better than my $10 CB in there.. I have a brand new quality cable so maybe a compact cobra or something? I was looking on craigslist but asking the brain trust here first! looking to probably mount it on the roll cage above the center dash here are the ones i'm interested in. Cobra 19 Ultra / 40 channel / New in box $35 Cobra 25 LTD classic CB $120 Radio Shack CB 40 channel transciever $20 any recommendations? |

I've got a craigslist Cobra 29 and it's great. Depends on what you want to do with it. If you're just talking on the trail, the Cobra 19 would be fine. If you're looking for a little more radio or range, the 25 would be the way to go. I spent $40 at Radio Service Center on Sheridan to get mine cleaned, peaked and tuned. Stock it puts out 3w, mine runs something like 18. I figure it's a little extra insurance if I go out alone and have an emergency. |

I also got a Cobra 29 off craigslist. It's got all the bells and whistles and I got it stupid cheap from some tweaker type. Not exactly the smallest box out there, but the price was right and it does the job. The 25 and 19 look like decent set ups for the price being asked. I'd probably just get the 25 off Amazon and then pick up a fire stick from someone <cough me cough cough> who doesn't need an extra. |

Having dealt with dust getting into mine and not allowing it to work properly, I think my next one will be a marine CB. Beyond that, stick with the god brands like Midland, Cobra, ...there's at least one more big name... Uniden maybe? |

I have this one in my tacoma and it works great. It's pretty small, mounted it where my ashtray used to be. I'll be getting another for the bronco too. It's a uniden pro520xl http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00004VXNI |
