I've been giving my long term build plans some thought. I'd really like to run 37" tires, but have a low garage door. Anyone tried running 37" tires on 3.5-4" of lift? I'm fine with cutting the fenders out to fit, and have the tools to expand the wheel wells if needed. I may nudge the rear axle back a little, so I'd have to extend the wheel wells anyway. I'm also planning on running long arms so that should help with turning clearance on the radius arms. Any other issues that would make this plan not work? Anyone done this?

I'm looking to do the same. Maybe run 35's but want room for 37's. I'm gonna cut and move my front inner fenders. Might do the backs too. Look at crawlercreations truck. He's on 37's with 4.5". There is a recent thread on cb about lcog Broncos. Just like your asking.

Have you been talking to my son? If "they've" built a mostly stock jeep running 40's I'm sure you can stuff 37's.

Rear fender wells will need moved or extended. I'd just extend them so you make sure there is enough room. Oddly enough, my axle is back 1" and that started rubbing on the rear of the wells. But my tires rub on the vertical wall of the inner fender when fully stuffed. With 37's, I am sure it'd be more of an issue, so I would look at less back spacing on my wheels, even tho I think I only have 3.5".

As for the fronts, you can open a can of worms there because you may end up relocating a bunch of stuff that now resides on the inner fenders. Washer bottle, battery etc. I have 3.5" of lift, 2" Body and have moved my axle 2" forward. It took some massaging, but everything clears with 35's. I think I'll have some more cutting to do to fit 37's. But that is my goal. Any further forward and you'll have steering issues.

It does open a can of worms for me. I like 37's on 17's, so that means new wheels (may try inner beadlocks), then should I go to full width instead as I am sure I'll be headed towards the 8-lug stuff anyway... I think with my chromoly fronts, my drivetrain can handle 37's, but I should maybe look into trussing the D44.

I guess while I am over here (Germany), I should look hard for some portal axles... That may be cheaper than a HP D60, or a 609 front with true-hi-9's front and rear. Then I can get wheels with centered or slightly positive offset. Just enough to protect hubs.

Without doing alot of mods, 37's and a 3.5" lift will rub ALOT. I run a 3.5" and a 2" body lift to clear 37's, still rub , but manageable. I removed my front sheet metal and tubed it, no problems up front.

What areas have your tires been rubbing? Just wondering what areas would need modification.

Sounds like a set of full width axles would eliminate the rears rubbing on the wheel wells like cracker & JD are talking about. Just thinking outside the box.

The thought has occurred to me. I've gone back and forth on adding full width axles to the build plans. I really like the way the stock width looks, as well as the ability to fit it into my narrow garage with the wife's luxo-barge, but the benefits are tempting.
