I dont have any catchy names for mine as i am not clever like that.
but the basic plan is for a daily driver/mild family wheeler/family camp rig.
hope to have it be able to do all those fairly well but maybe nothing great.

Started as a 74 with 302, 3 on floor,4.11's w ft lim slip.
had 2" fromt coils, running good shape 33 BFG at's.
Truck was equiped with power steering and manual 4 wheel drums.
A set of some high back buckets were installed in the front no rear seat.
a front cage kit had already been added
front fenders, rockers and 1/4 panels had been replaced.
Truck had been recently repainted as well.

Bought oem Ford 92-96 Bronco alum 10 hole wheels, in the process of removing tarnished clear coat and polishing out.
Beard seats are in the basement waiting for the top to get installed so they can get brackets fabbed up and installed.

turns out the protofab cage has the main rear hoop a little further forward than the stock/smittybuilt main rear hoop.


Slowly but surely i will get it done.

Future plans include Front and rear ARBs, new rear bumper with tire carrier,
interior comfort mods(yet to be determined) and eventually a 4X4 trailer to carry all of the goods that are required for a family of 4 with 2 young kids to go camping for a few days.

I like those later bronco wheels on there it look's CLEAN! What did you think of the proto fab cage?

Wow...nice work! So did you buy just the rear family part of the ProtoFab cage? Looks great.

Have you made frame tie-ins before? It is very difficult to do it on the front and rear mounting points due to things in the way underneath. The middle 2 mounts are really the only ones where frame tie-ins are easy.

For sure I want to tie the cage into the frame.
I was planning on buying some prebent peices I had seen for sale somewhere but if you have a bender on the way and are willing to help, then count me in.

71 BB and Airbur: it is just the rear portion of the protofab family kit.
I figured why spend the extra money on a full setup when i was already 2/3 there.
just as I stated the protofab cage main hoop must be a few inches forward of the one i have.
just some extra work for me but it wasnt bad. bonus was that my bench vise lined up perfect with my drill press to help hold everything while drilling.

As for the quality of the proto fab stuff? seems top notch to me.
really nice bends,perfect fitting mouths nice stuff.
Air- you should be stoked on yours since it all came ready to bolt in.

I was trying to finish all of the welding last night and about 10 minutues in just after getting it retacked, my welder screwed up and stoped feeding wire. bitch its a freakin new welder what the heck.
I open the cover expecting to see a mess of wire or something.... no wire left to feed just an empty spool.
time to upgrade to the large roll and a small for emergency late night back up.
didnt think I had been weldinng that much but guess I have.

it should be ready for saturdays breakfast though, and it looks like the weather may be over by friday opening up to sun and clear for saturday.

Extreme Custom Fabrication makes them....but I'd imagine they'd be pretty easy to fab up with the right tools and skills.

Now I remember the issue......it's the AUX tank. It makes it a real bugger to get a frame-tie in on that side in the front.

thanks for the info on the cage i putting in my first 6 point cage over the winter and i was thinkin about adding to it. but want to do some r&d before i buy or build my own. And yes it's going to be tied to the frame. Which is one of the reasons for replacing my floor boards.
