I need to weld an O2 bung into my header and want to do it while I've got my floor pan out, making it really easy to access the header. I'm a total noob welder. How hard is it to weld something like this up and have it be airtight? After doing some reading I'm figuring on using the highest possible heat on my 110v welder w/.30 MIG or .35 flux core wire and overlapping a series of spot welds around the bung with a few seconds to cool between them. Any reason that is a terrible idea? |

Highest heat will burn a hole in it. Its no different than sheet metal. I've welded a bunch of exhaust and o2 bungs. Id start mid heat and adjust from there. |

Put a old o2 or bolt in it so you don't hit rue threads. Buy two just in case. Happens to the best of.us |
