Just finished watching Top Gear, they tried to take 3 minivans over the Continental Divide, last fall. I think its Engineer Pass from the Ouray side to the Lake City side. Pretty funny stuff. Also just started watching Doomsday Preppers on Nat Geo, an ex-coworker called and said one of the guys is from Gunnison. He was involved in a shooting last year, his story was so fishy that I actually laughed when I read about it in the paper. Something about trying to get someone, from the front range, to grow his medical marijuana for him. They met in a field late at night and one of the guys ended up with some extra ventilation. Not exactly a great ambassador for the Gunnison Valley. Oh well. Episode #4 "Nine Meals from Anarchy". |

Ha. The guy lives less than 1 block from the body shop I worked at. I recognize the big old wood house next door to his house. I've seen him around town. In person, he seems as strange as he appears on the show. A few months ago, I built a pool table for the woman who owns the "hydroponic" store they visited (I used to own a billiard store and still build tables on the side). Her son worked at our body shop a couple years before I started there, when he was a high school student. They are good people, the son is in school on the front range for firefighting. |

I just finished waatching Top Gear with my 2.5 yo son - damn funny to see the looks from Jeep guys as they four-wheeled some minivans. Absolutely gorgeous trail - Colorado is so damn beautiful. |

Something dawned on my last night, they said their route went over the Continental Divide, but never mentioned the actual trail they ran. They showed a trail head I think I recognized in Ouray, and a basic map of their route. If I'm right, and they used Engineer or Cinnamon pass, it doesn't cross the Divide. They were way to far west, and north. |

Can't wait to watch Top Gear. That show is entertaining, if nothing else. Dooms Day preppers seems to be interesting, but I have not set the DVR to record it. I would think there are tidbits you could take from that show to use if there were a natural disaster or something. |

That show had a rough start, but seems to be getting better. Still isn't anywhere near as good as the original British Top Gear, but the British one has had 18 seasons of practice. I saw the first part of the CO episode, looked like a good one. |

I cannot get through the British version. I have tried to watch, but I seriously hate the hosts - their accents and horrible jokes drive me freakin' nuts. |

It's a dry humor. I like both shows, but prefer the American version simply because I can identify with them better. |
