Interesting, good for the doctor, hope he isn't charged with anything. When I went through my CCW training, I was told never pull/brandish my gun unless you shoot the large mouth bass. Pretty confusing that you aren't really allowed to diffuse a hostile situation by threatening with a gun, but you can blow the BG away. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I know some info I got from my instructor was incorrect, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. |

The law states that you are lawful to protect others to the degree necessary. If you brandish a gun for no reason its felony menacing. If a person comes in and threatened you or others and you were on fear for your life you are justified. |

The rule of thumb is you can protect yourself or others against violence. You cannot use deadly force in protection of property unless some is trying to commit 1st degree arson. |

Thanks, "to the degree necessary" I think that reiterates the advice: "don't make any statement without a lawyer present". I am NOT a lawyer, and not schooled in law. Leave it to the experts: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 3865&hl=en http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 2&q=&hl=en No offence to PO's, all due respect, you've got a tough job, just food for thought. Damn, grey areas. |

I saw the story on the news, but no mention of this Dr. protecting his staff and patients, so I wanted to mention it. God Forbid we paint good law abiding citizens with a weapons permit in a good light. That would look bad on what the current administration is trying to do... |

That doctor is my Father-in-law's doc. Performed his kidney cancer surgery a year and a half ago and did it with a robot. It would be a helluva shame to have lost him, because he is the guy that teaches the Dr.s at the Mayo clinics how to use robots in surgery. I've got to say, I have more respect for the guy now after this than I had even before. And that was a lot to begin with. |

Gary - we have a tie similar to him as well. And I have some added respect for him like you. |

Wonder if the dr will get charged for having a gun on a medical campus. I have yet to see a medical campus that isn't a weapons free zone |
