Did you ever see the documentary about the electric mail truck at LVMS? I think it was on discovery channel about 6-7 years ago. They kept making passes until it broke the input shaft. ALL Torque

I'd love to make one out of a 99-2001 Subaru Impreza with a double ended motor. Mount it in the driveshaft tunnel with a shaft going to the front and rear differentials. Add in a Lipo or Li-ion battery pack mounted in place of the back seat and you'd have a rocket ship with an amazingly low CG.

not sure subaru's diffs could handle that. Notice the 9" in this car?

I saw that. The r160s couldn't, not sure about the R180s in the STi. They're pretty burly and the torque would be split across two of them. You could probably tune the speed controller for a more gradual roll in of torque to reduce the shock to the drivetrain. I'd probably want to track it more than drag race it, so it'd make the car more driveable anyway.
