My BIL is a rather succesful lawyer with one of the worlds largest manufactures of heavy equipment. He is currently working in Beljum running the company's europe and asia divisions. He and my sister have 2 lovely daughters going to the international school there. Ages 15 and 13. And in response to their pleas to be allowed to start dateing, he came up with this that is to be completed by any potential suiters. Lets just say I have always been glad that I have boys. |

Funny application. With a daughter, I share his need to be protective. |

Like you said, I'm glad I have boys. The first happened to me. A couple of funny stories from when I was a kid....I remember one time I went over to a gal's house & her dad had everything set up like he was "cleaning" a gun. New solvent bottle, brand new brushes, cleaning kit, the whole works. He had a wall hanger black powder rifle that he was working on and stuff for a shot gun and I had a little chuckle to myself. Asked him what caliber the gun was and he couldn't tell me. I even commented that my dad had build one himself. It was funny to reverse the table on him. The second, to a guy who liked my sister. My dad & I were cleaning guns & loading hunting rounds. He was cleaning & I was loading. This guy comes down to my dad's shop & starts talking to us and out of nowhere he asks if he can take my sister on a date. Without breaking stride, my dad very blandly ignores the comment & says "did you know I can hit an elk at 250 yards on the run and drop him with this rifle?". Needless to say, the kid never did take my sister out, nor did he ask again. |

A gun is too predictable...I have a chrome plated Axe...in addition, I've had background checks done before. As a father of Three girls, you have to be prepared. |

When I went and picked up a girl in High School, a father was in the living room with "Lefty" - his Louisville Slugger bat. He was wiping off something red (looked like blood) and said he had to get it cleaned up in case he had to use it on me. It was definitely intimidating. Let's just say, I dropped her off on time later that night. |

I was fortunate in that I was never threatend by a girls father but I was a thrower on the track team (shot and disk). There was a huge Somoan guy named Rich on the team. He had the cutest little sister my age who never had a date. One day at practice he asked us why one of us never asked her out? I told him, "Rich - you are the nicest guy I know, but if you sister ever told you that any one of us had disrespected her, you would tear us apart" - he understood, apologized to his sister and once he graduated, she had plenty of dates. A second story. I had a serious girfriend in HS. After one dinner at her house, her mom asked me to call her when I got home. I was one nervous young man all the way home wondering what she knew we had been doing. When I got home, I called her and she said she "wanted to thank me, that I had been very good for Cheri". You see, Cheri used to be quite the party girl but since I had been going out with her, she had straightend up her act. I ended up marrying that girfriend and have been married to her ever since. 25 yrs. |

True story, when my oldest daughter brought her first boy home to meet me (without any warning), I was sitting on the couch watching TV and sharpening the biggest Buck knife I have. She loves to tell that story more than I do. |
