My nephews (15 & 17 Y.O.) are in town from Utah 7/30 - 8/8. I really want them to have a great time while they are here this Summer. Last Summer, they stayed for 5-days and we went to Boulder, hiking, a Rockies game, Snooze (twice lol), Water World, and school shopping. They had such a great time they decided to stay 10 days this year! I need some ideas from you guys that have been here longer than me and know what fun stuff is out there. Maybe Royal Gorge, Colorado Raceway, or Rapids Soccer would be fun. Love to hear any advice or tips you guys have. Any fun ideas to make this year even better? Any favorite family places? Places your kids beg to go? Any places to stay away from? |

Water world kicks every other water parks ass. Eliches for the night time rides. Rockies games, spaghetti Factory for dinner before. What else are they into. Unless they play soccer - I would suggest Outlaws Lacrosse. Lots of interesting things. PRCA Hall of fame if they are into rodeo is in the springs. And if you look, just about every weekend somewhere there is a local fair or rodeo somewhere within an hour or so. Cave of the winds on a hot day, pikes peak - even your mall crawling bronco can make it to the top or to the top of Mt. Evans. Nothing like watching as a big afternoon thunderstorm rolls up on you at eye level, experiencing that is something that every young man should do. Of course if they are from SLC the mountains are no big deal to them. Food: Have they tried Sushi? Sushi Den is one of the top ranked sushi restaurants in the nation. Good Mexican - I mean real Mexican. The Red Iguana in SLC is pretty darn good but there are much better here in Denver. I do not know the rules on a brewery tour like Coors, but that is one they would tell their buddies about. |

Agreed on Elitch's and rockies games. Pikes peak either drive or take the cog railroad. Could go mountain biking at one of the ski resorts like Breck. Plenty of places to hiking or if you're feeling really adventurous you could do one of the easier 14ers. Anything at Red Rocks, Film on the Rocks could be fun. Could always do a quick wheelin and or camping trip or run up and go ing somewhere. Royal Gorge is always a good time above or below, you can take a quick train ride through the gorge. Or you could take em white-water rafting. Guess it just depends on what they're into! There are a ton of great restaraunts around town of course. I'm not a fan of Sushi Den and think there are better places around personally. If you're down that way though there's a place down old south pearl called The Crushery that does liquid-nitrogen frozen scratch-made ice cream that's pretty awesome and fun to watch them make. |

Take them snowboarding at the Great Sand Dunes then drive that cherry Bronco over Medano pass and make tracks in the sand and creek crossings. Dont forget to look for UFO's. |

Glenwood springs pools are always way fun. Hiking up Hanging Lake is an awesome site as well. Then go wheel up Transfer trail. |

Bring them to High Plains Raceway Aug 6 or 7. Vintage racing at its finest. Lori may even be able to work in a ride for them in one of the cars during lunch. It is a great weekend to come to the races, they are doing a charity race that benefits the Morgan Adams foundation, so lots of extra things happening. Jeff |

In my area, as some have been mentioned are: Garden of the Gods (scenery and hiking) Manitou cliff dwellings (meh, just ok, but cool if you've never been to Mesa Verde can see all you need in 1/2hr) Pikes Peak (jump on youtube and show them videos of the hill climb race) Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame (I need to get there someday) Seven Falls (haven't been there) Cave of the winds (many many years since I have been, but it's cool) Whitewater rafting? Cheyenne Mtn Zoo Make a stop at the B52 at USAFA and the visitors center. (just make sure you're not packin' heat) Petersen has a nice display of planes too and if you go during business hours, there is one you can climb into. Royal Gorge Is that Shelby Museum still open in Boulder? There is an antique car museum in Arvada too. http://www.cusslermuseum.com/ Lazer Tag or paint ball What about that indoor skydiving thing near 470 & I-25 Any local fair would be cheap and fun. El Paso has a demo derby, but I don't recall when it is. Heck, sounds fun enough I may come with ya!! LOL! |
