Took a break from nonstop trailer building to change out my twin stick knobs. I had the regular black plastic set that came w/the JB Fab kit, nothing wrong with them really. But I've been hauling these SKULLS (I told you not to look Entourage) around for over 25 years and used them on various things in my life that are my current obsession, so they needed to get on the Bronco. These aren't your common bought at the auto parts store glam, they have a feel to them that is unmistakable. Hope you enjoy the Halloween inspired lighting!

The backstory for those who care - My dad was in LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) during Korea and Vietnam and the story as I remember it is that these skulls were mounted to his recon vehicle (probably a Jeep) at the end of poles that were the width of their biggest vehicle in the convoy, so if the Jeep could make it so could everything else. I didn't get many stories out of him, he is pretty quiet about that time in his life. I know this story was one of the easier gigs he did as the other story is about repelling out of a helicopter. Well behind the lines the copter wouldn't land (too dangerous I guess) and they went out and down the rope, but it wasn't touching the ground and the copter was on it's way up. Needless to say you either got off on your own or you were shook off. So the second pic is of him in his Army heyday.

Those knobs are way scarry - you would have to take them off for me to ride in your truck :)

Classic69bronco - That's what I've heard from other Army Dudes, I work w/a SF guy now and he was telling me what he knew about them, unfortunately he is a younger guy and doesn't know 1st hand, I wish my dad would've told me a few more stories. Luckily I've got a few pics and uniform items (pins/patches) from that time in his life. I'll have to try to dig up a pic of the LRRP pin that is on the beret and is a tattoo on his shoulder. It was a Dragon w/weapons surrounded by a crest, plus I think he was a Air Cav guy as well.

Rox Crusher - He was always super fit while I was growing up, he always did push-ups and sit-ups, something that inspired me when i was young and something I try to maintain as I get older.
