My family is considering chipping in to get my dad a welder for Christmas. I have a Hobart 140 and it's been a solid machine, but I am wondering what else is out there that might be appealing. These are my criteria. Any others I should consider? 110v (an option for 220v would be awesome!) Gas ready reasonable Duty Cycle Budget friendly Forney seems like a descent brand and they have a 110v welder that ticks a lot of the boxes. Thanks! |

Are you just wanting mig? The new multi process welders are awesome. They also break the "budget" thing typically. Forney does seem to have a good product and they are Colorado based. Overlandunderbudget on Instagram built a full camper with his. The 140 is great for most things. That said, buy the most you can. Too much is almost enough. No one has ever said they wished they went smaller with a welder. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk |

I really like my everlast. 250amp multi process mig/tig/stick machine. it is 120/240v. and a decent price of ~$1500. May be more than you are willing to spend but its only a 1 time purchase. |

If he can do 220v for sure, the Lincoln or Hobart 180s are good quality at a decent budget. To get something that can do both 110v and 220v you're probably looking at an inverter welder. Worth it, but s little higher cost. |

I've got to be around the $500 range I think. Found this on Amazon and it has good reviews and seems like a great setup: https://weldpro.com/product/mig155gsv-1 ... 220v-110v/ |
