Sounds like they don't know what they are doing. Can't you just registration back in Colorado again?

The MO inspection list looks a lot like the German inspection of US vehicles.

Post Re: We need a "You know what sux?" thread....
Al's HNR released from the truck. Bedliner stuck to the HNR. I don't know what went wrong.

It did stick well in spots, but 75% pulled off. I'd say it had something to do with my etch prime, but it was from 2 different cans, 2 different manufacturers. And it released from old paint too. The only thing it consistently stuck to was seam sealer.

I'm going to call Al's tomorrow, and talk to them. I spoke to them before shooting anything, and verified dry time, prep, etc. Did it all. That's $300+ in HNR & bedliner, not to mention taping up the truck twice, etc.

I REALLY want some heat control, and I don't want a floor mat or carpet (plus, off-the-shelf won't fit my trans tunnel or wheelwells). I'm considering trying again. Maybe epoxy prime the whole thing, instead of etching the bare metal. I'll start small, like just the tailgate. Hopefully Al's will help with the cost of replacing everything.

That really does suck. Not something I'd want to clean and prep twice!

Well, Al's Liner's customer service does NOT suck.

Just talked to their tech department and explained what happened. They explained that their instructions are inadequate, and with as much bare metal as I had, etch prime is not enough for the latex based HNR to stick to. His recommendation was to epoxy prime the tub first.

They also shipped me 2 new gallons of HNR and 2 new gallons of bedliner. For FREE.

That takes some of the sting out of this situation.

At least they admit their inadequacy in direction giving. I would still hope they'd update their instructions so you don't have to do the job twice and they have to give away product. I guess now you know for the next Bronco you find in a neighbors barn and decide to restore!!

I agree, and their service tech agreed. He said they need to do a better job. I'm sure it's costing them money. Actually, the 2 gallons I ordered (from Amazon) didn't come with ANY instructions. You have to go on line and this is the best you get:

HNR_label_back.jpg

Actually really crappy.

They just added HNR to the commercial 'Scorpion' line. He knew our supplier and would call them and specifically explain this to them. But that is really not the answer.

Decided to take the Bronco out today and I backed it out of the garage 10' then I started to smell gas. I walked around it and found the fuel cell leaking on the top down the sides onto the exhaust among other places. It's coming from the pump and the sending unit seals. Now the tank is a Northwest metal products tank made in 06 and that company owner has retired and sold the business to sunset metal fab. I'm hoping that he still has a gasket set I can get. If not then I guess I'll have to make my own. What a bummer

Post Re: We need a "You know what sux?" thread....
I feel like nothing is worthy of posting in this thread after FrankCastles experience but here goes...

Sunday I went by Toolman's to help him on a couple mods to his serpentine setup. Pulling into his alley I park and here some hissing- as it was pretty hot, I initially thought it was the gas cap venting. Nope. Had a huge 1/2 inch stick puncturing my rear tire. Most likely going to need new tires but I was going to be looking at buying some this winter anyways.

So after we finish changing my tire and messing with Toolman's rig, I head home. Driving down Sheridan at about 35mph I hit a pothole that sends me into a violent shake. I pull off into a side street to find myself without power steering. Turns out the Moab trail repair of the pitman shaft seal decided it had enough.

I guess the moral of the story is- don't go help your friends fix their Broncos because yours will break down twice on the way home.

But, again- it could be worse, at least it wasn't repo'd.

That does suck...but in my defense, I didn't ask for help, you showed up on your own volition (although I do appreciate the help). I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

BTW, the mess behind my neighbor's garage was cleaned up by the time I got home yesterday shrug .

I thought your story was going to involve your Bronco being repo'd!

Getting less than 150 miles out of a brand new tire before needing to by a replacement. The new tire size didn't play nice with my inner fender on Holy Cross Trail. Clean slice all the way around the tire.
