Walking out to find that the windshield of your parked Bronco was hit with a rock, and is now cracked from top to bottom on the driver side.

Re: We need a "You know what sux?" thread....
I don't know if there is a way to win this thread, but I might be a contender. The '73 Baja was stolen in 2012. When I went to have the VIN inspection done today, Colorado State Patrol impounded it.

Dude, seriously...That Sux, Sorry.
So assuming that the previous owner had insurance on it and was reimbursed by the insurance company will they have any claim to it after three or four years? What happens next ?

Re: We need a "You know what sux?" thread....
I'll answer as best I can, based on what I was told by CSP.
The reporting party will be contacted to let them know the vehicle was recovered. They will determine if the vehicle is still considered stolen, or if conditions have changed since it was last reported in 2012. If they make a claim on the vehicle as the owners, it is their truck to take. Honestly, I think they will do so. The Bronco market being what it is, they would be foolish not to.
If it is determined that the vehicle was not stolen and maybe a misunderstanding took place, it will be released to whomever can prove ownership (bill of sale, title, etc.). That is, after they pay the storage fees ($30.00/day, starting today).
If the reporting party is unable to be contacted and no one shows up to claim ownership, it could be auctioned or sold off by either CSP or the towing company. When that could occur is unknown to me at the moment.

Re: We need a "You know what sux?" thread....
Man, that really does suck. Sorry for your luck.
Hopefully you have a bill of sale and can use that to pursue getting your money back from the seller.
And if all of the planets and stars align, you can buy it back from the owner or at auction.
Hoping for the best !

I don't want to hear anyone complaining about Colorado's vehicle inspections ever again.

Wow. That is on the ridiculous side of things!! One benefit of being in the Mil is being able to claim residence in any states you had duty in.
