I unloaded my ~250lb axle from the back by myself. Next time I'm buying Zoso's hoist.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I tried to put my NP435 back in last year by myself with a regular floor jack. Rolled off the jack and squashed my arm (I put my arm there to "protect" the trans). I was lucky I didn't really hurt myself. I bought my trans jack a month later, and still haven't used it. But I know it was money well spent. Pain and fear are excellent teachers.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I'm hoping that today was the day of cheap fixes. Went to reinstall my spark plugs after checking my compression, discovered that I had a bunch of loose header bolts. That got rid of my possible lifter tick. Greased up the driveshafts, I _think_ that got rid of the odd vibe and noise I was getting yesterday.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I live on northgate near the air force academy getting ready to move just off Filmore.. I commute to intermountain coach off Platte.. the 72 I have was in a slow roll over in 73 and stored inside ever since. My dad brought it back from Iowa after his h.s. reunion. Its in need for a full rebuild 10k on the truck when it was wrecked.. we (my family) have a handful of broncos.. hoarders if you will ha!

Pulled the engine and one day I will put it in the garage instead of doing this while it is still on the trailer.

That's a sweet way to do it..I wish I had a boom/crane truck. Using a cherry picker in the dirt is a pain in the ass..

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Yesterday I attempted installing the transmission myself. After 3 hours of wrestling with it I gave up. EFI Guy dropped by this morning to help put the transmission in. It took no time at all. I could never have done it with out his help! Big thanks to EFI Guy!!!
I also started rebuilding my dana 20. I am currently stuck because my sockets are to fat to remove the flange nut. CrawlerCreations said he had what I would need, so I plan on dropping by some time this week to borrow some tools.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Couple of months ago I picked up a vibration in the rear end, so I talked to a few folks, the general consensus was either a driveshaft u-joint, pinion bearing or a x-fer case bearing. Well it ended up being two of them. Driveshaft u-joints & pinon bearing. I got the driveshaft taken care of but didn't have the expertise to do the rear end. Sooo, I enlisted the help of Corey. He rebuilt my 3rd member for me and put the newer seals on my ARB for me. That left me to put it all back together, which turned out to be more than just putting the 3rd member back in. I ended up switching the air inlet for my ARB to the newer system rather than the old, I also had to replace my rear calipers because one wasn't working right and on top of that, I noticed that my driver side rear spring shackle had a busted bolt in it. So I got it all put back together finally and am rolling again. A lot more money than I planned on (3 u-joints, 2 new calipers & brake pads, new bearing install kit & a new shackle bolt) but at least its fixed.
Thanks for the help Corey!!

With these old broncos it's always a snow-ball effect.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
With there being more and more gas stations everywhere I've got less use for jerrycans so I made this... hinged on the backside for storage of chains, tool, whatever..

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I've seen speaker boxes before, but holding chains is a great idea. If that is your intent, you might drill a small hole in the bottom for draining.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I have 1/4" holes in the four corners underneathe for drains.. the seal especially arount the hinge isn't exactly water proof so I kinda planned for that.. I may make another one I've got 2 more.. the liners for fuel are deteriorated and flaking is the main reason I'm cutting them up for storage boxes.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Just a FYI - folks, a 1/4" ROUND hole will not weep water well. The surface tensil strength of the water requires at least a 5/16 hole or an oblong hole of 3/16" or more. You can elongate that 1/4" hole easily by rocking the drill back and forth a few times and it will be fine. This is especially true in a sealed environment such as that can. A smaller hole will weep - just very slowly.
I could explain how I know but suffice it to say that I deal with water and how to get it to the outside from the inside daily....

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Good point. Next chance I get I think I will also put a punch in the hole to dimple them outward that should make the holes low points for better drainage..
