Ya I test fit one on years ago when I worked at pikes peak rovers, and have wanted one ever since

Our old local tool rental shop is liquidating their tools. The old man who ran the store for decades passed away about a year ago, and it never reopened. In addition to the rental tools & stuff, the old man's tools he used to maintain his stuff is for sale.

I went in looking for a kerosene torpedo heater to keep the garage usable this winter. I hate smelling like kerosene, but I'm not going to get a natural gas one in this year.

I ended up with this, for $5.00, needs a new hose, but fired right up. 100,000btu, propane. Sweet, no kerosene smell!

While I was there, I couldn't help grabbing a brand new come-a-long (sp?), an old inch/lb torque wrench, air shears, a nice old bench grinder, and this bad boy:

Tilts, swivels, pretty sweet! Wish I had it a month or so ago. Oh well, it won't be the last time.

Went back today with a truck to grab the tranny jack, and left with an engine stand, a long handled body dolly/aka Big Whacker- a super handy tool I stumbled on, and this:

I think all told for $350 it was money well spent.

I have to stop going back, I was eyeing a bunch of chain binders, a cylinder hone set, and some other stuff. They said I should keep coming back.

I went on line and figured out that my 100,000 btu propane heater will only burn for 4 hours on a 20lb cyl. Hopefully I'll be able to turn it down once things are warmed up. Or I'll be in the market for a 100lb cyl.

That floor never warms up, I learned to wear Sorel pac boots to keep the feet warm. Regular boots and shoes just soak the cold up from the concrete, regardless of the air temp.

I might be too cheap for kerosene so I might just run it on diesel. But that really stinks so I might just might spend the money on kerosene. But not bad for a hand me down from my grandpa.

Gunni - A propane heater will suck down a 5lb bottle pretty fast, but I had a three-car garage with 14ft ceilings. I am trying to remember the BTU ratings on my heaters, but I'd use the big one to take the chill off, then the little one on low to maintain. Don't forget to crack a couple doors so you can get fresh air thru. If your eyes are burning, your heater is not functioning right.

Yeah, I am thinking about 50* is comfortable for working in the garage.

My small heater had the wrong regulator on it, so it would not burn clean at full blast. So I generally used the valve on the tank to regulate and would turn it down to where it'd just stay lite and not blow out. That seemed to keep the temp up to snuff most of the time. I did not have insulated doors, 80% of the walls were insulated and nothing in the attic. Not to mention, wasn't sealed to well either, but probably better than yours.

Got most of my weather stripping in, cleaning the back quarter panel areas and painting a bit today and hopefully can have the back bed and sides in and done.. then move onto the liftgate/tailgate weatherstripping and headliner/sound deadening.. then a cleaning!

Removed the auxiliary tank, straps, and skid plate. Cleaned all three. Painted skid plate and locking block for straps, reinstalled. Oh yeah, took a gasoline bath too. Thank god for showers at work and coveralls.

Still, gasoline is one of those you have to "wear off". I hate that and antifreeze!

Today I ripped out the seats and cleared the tub for the sheet metal work. Will be replacing the floor pans on both sides as well as the driver kick panel. Also, will be prepping the tub for new interior treatment. Have the Lincoln 140 bought and now waiting on delivery. If anyone has an extra argon tank for sale, I am in the market!

You'll want a CO2-AR mix for your welder. At least that seems to be the most common.

Took her out for an early morning drive today. Call it a rattle test on steroids. FR-300 from Woodland Park north is like a cheese grater with all the washboards.

Drove it for the first time in 5 1/2 years!! Felt REALLY good. Now to work out the bugs.

Congrats, that must have been sweet. I think there was probably a year or so when I didn't drive mine.

I've been chasing elk with my Bronco. Spent two long days last weekend, and 3 afternoons this week, roughly 30 miles hiking, and didn't see a single live elk.

Friday night & Saturday morning we got our first snow in a long time. My Saturday morning hunt was beautiful. Stormy, snowy weather. About 9am I ended up in a gulch I wanted to avoid. Ironically it put me on very fresh sign. Its very cool when you can smell them before you can see them. The stars aligned and I brought an elk home in my Bronco yesterday. Beautiful, young cow. Time to go plug the freezer back in! Sorry no pics of the cow, I was alone and was just worried about the job at hand.

Here are a couple pics of the elk camp I get to use each year, near Powderhorn/Lake City. We actually have 2 tents, but one tent was already taken down, because 3rd & 4th season there are only a couple guys hunting. The last twoyears , I've spent my hunting season here alone, a very cool experience.

I have spent probably more time in the last few days trying to buy and transport new tools (not to mention spending money), than on Bronco stuff. However, this past weekend I did have the Kinder clan and Justin over to help work on the floor pans. Got about half way to install of the passenger side and realized the rest needs pulled and replaced... hidden rust. But, Kinder bringing his baby compressor over to lend a hand with an air chisel convinced me to buy one (so I did what every red blooded american meathead does, and bought one 10 times the size!) Picked the compressor up today off CL for a great deal...just need to wire it up and get a hose and a few tools. The Lincoln Electric came earlier last week but these are my new toys...

Jealous, that compressor looks like a great score!

You can't go wrong with a compressor and lots of capacity. Especially if you use air tools over electric.
